Putting your website at the top of Google, Yahoo, MSN Search ETC Chances are your new website won't be at the top of any search engines right away. It just takes time. Search engines require new sites to be "seasoned" and don't appear anywhere near the top until they have been established for a while. We submit your the site to all the search engines, but it just takes time. Google, Yahoo and other search engines want to make sure that your site is going to be around a while before they put you on "the list." You will receive each month a breakdown of the hits and visitors you receive. One way to shortcut this seasoning period is to pay to get your website at the top of the list. These paid options are very effective but are usually only ideal for certain types of business websites. Contact us about setting your site up for this option. Now you must keep in mind, that each search engine have hundreds of servers searching the net daily and saving information according to their criteria (which in many cases is hundreds of pages of code). It is very unlikely to know what they want to see, but here is my best guess. In our opinion here are a few major considerations which most search engines weigh heavily on: Seasoning Period Despite the actual website itself, a search engine will very rarely put you at the top of the list for any keywords in the first 6-12 months. As we explained above, you have to prove you are a permanent website. Traffic and Visitors Another way your site is rated is on popularity. The most visitors you have the more popular your site will be to the search engines. A popular site deserves to be at the top of a search engines. It is very unlikely that a small, low traffic site will be at the top of a major keyword search. Content The more text you have on your site the more the search engine is going to index. This means the more text you have the more potential keywords you have. It is better to have too much good content than not enough. But it does take time to develop good text. For starters maybe try a FAQ page, frequently asked questions or an about us page. Inbound Links This is the amount of other sites which link to your site. If you have a lot of external sites which link to your site, you are considered more popular. If at all possible, have every other website you can get, put a link to your site. |
