Email Support

Basic Mail Settings

Setting up an e-mail client will be different for each client. Please refer to documentation for your software. Below is a list of general settings that can be used with most e-mail clients.

A note about POP3 vs. IMAP

IMAP and POP work in different ways. Since Netguava supports both, you may choose the option that works better for you.

IMAP is generally recommended if you're going to be checking your e-mail from multiple devices (i.e., computers, cell phones, laptops). IMAP saves your mail on the mail server, which allows all your devices to access it later.

For users who mainly check their e-mail from a single device, we recommend the use of POP/POP3, especially if the amount of mail you receive is large. POP saves your mail locally to your computer, which saves space on the server for your e-mail account.

Having Trouble Sending Mail?

If you have trouble sending mail, it is possible your internet provider is blocking SMTP outgoing mail traffic on Port 25. Port 25 is the standard mail port. To correct for this problem we have setup our server to allow you to send mail through a secondary port.

From the E-mail Accounts screen click the More Settings button.
Then click the Advanced Tab.
Set Outgoing server (SMTP) port to 2525
